Just a little about me

I've been sewing for a very long time. I started when I was very young. I started making clothes and such like most people do. When my kids were small I made things for them just like any mother would. I made a few wedding dresses and bridemaids dresses along the way and of course a flower girl dress for my granddaughter. After that there was a long break for many years but never actually stopping.

Then a few years ago I decided to try my hand at making a quilt. It was ok but nothing great. It took me a very long time to make but I had created it and completed it. I was very happy with it. However, I knew that I could do better. The type of person I am I am always striving to be better, to do better than I did before. That first quilt got the quilting bug in me, to be able to keep improving my sewing skills and then also to learn the quilting piece of the puzzle. On that first quilt I did all the quilting by hand. Now that was a chore. At that point I decided to try and do the quilting on my domestic machine. Not sure which was more of chore, doing it by hand or on my domestic machine that only had a throat space of 6 or 7 inches at most. Then it was decided that I would get myself a long arm sewing machine and that was the best thing I could have done.

I have been in business now for about 2 years and I love it! Making quilts and finishing quilts for others is so enjoyable for me. I had no idea how much I would enjoy it. While it does keep me busy most of the time it is all good. I love the challenge of making an idea become a reality. I've made a few Memory Quilts and they turned out quite nice. The first one was with a pair of her grandfather's overalls I cut in half lengthwise along with a shirt he used to wear. Cut them both in half lengthwise and then appliqued them onto the main piece. It was a challenge but the client loved it and that is what is important. I love challenging myself to do new things whenever possible, that is how we all learn. Thanks for reading!
